Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, outcry and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32
One of the great surprises from living in Northern Texas is the seasonal unpredictability of our weather. The temperature may soar to 81 degrees and plunge to 32 degrees resulting in the experience of spring, summer, and winter seasons on a weekly basis. We are never surprised when the news forecast is out of sync with our actual weather for the day.
In our lives, we also experience seasonal changes. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 states, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…” Unfortunately, many of us experience a negative reaction to the transition or life event that has occurred. Be comforted in knowing that God is aware of every unpredictable circumstance that we experience. In fact, He already promised to never leave us or forsake us during our pleasant summers or the winter chills.
We must weather the harsh storms in order to attain spiritual growth. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
Dear God, please help me to understand and accept the seasonal changes in my life. Amen

This is a wonderful expression of loving oneself enough to cast aside the typical standards of living in a stressful environment. God desires for us to wrap ourselves with His love as we strive to obey His plan for our lives.

“The desire for instant gratification is symptomatic of an uncontrolled mind; it is an enemy of patience that undermines long-term goals, mocking and injuring accountability. To delay gratification is a learned principle; it is a life skill that helps us manage situations and pressures, especially the temptations that the world has to offer, such as borrowing money unwisely. This idea, however, is not popular in a world built on the indulgence of instant reward, quick fixes, and get-rich-quick schemes. Once we have experienced instant gratification, we are more likely to choose the short-term reward again, and then again, and again. Stewards of the gifts that God has given us must not fall into that trap.”
