Yesterday my cousin shared a logic problem with the correct answer. It proved to be a daunting task for those of us with overdeveloped right sided brains. However, the most amazing phenomenon occurred when the majority of individuals chose to ignore the correct answer, and adamantly defended their incorrect answer with carefully constructed rationale.
In the 12th book of Daniel, we read of the prophecy of the end time. God reveals exactly what is to occur to His servant; but, He instructs Daniel to “shut up the words and seal the book until the end of time…” Daniel 12:4. We are told that knowledge will increase, but, many will be rushing around without purpose. Further into the 12th chapter, God defines who will have understanding, “…But the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand. Only those who are wise will know what it means.”
Studying the Word of God, and praying for the guidance of the Holy Spirit prepares us to receive wisdom which only comes from God. If we possess the willingness to be obedient, and push our carnal understanding aside, the truth will be revealed. At that point, we are given the opportunity to embrace what is right from God’s perspective. It becomes a personal choice to run toward the truth or to turn and run away.
“There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12
Dear God, thank you for providing us with truth through your Holy Bible. Please give us the desire to possess the knowledge and wisdom we need to serve you, so that we will always stand on the side of truth. Amen

Practical Messages for Impractical Times
I recently read many overwhelming expressions of depression and despondency from “Christians” on a popular weblog. The despair verbalized by believers equated to the same expressions of hopelessness that one would find commonplace in unbelievers. What has occurred in our mindset that we are just giving God meaningless lipservice? The answers are numerous; varied according to each individual. But, the one answer that resounds is that we have forgotten why God created us.
We were created to worship and praise God. Our communion with God extends beyond attending church service once or twice per week. We are to praise God by serving those in need. It is our duty to alleviate the suffering of the displaced, the underserved, and underprivileged. When we…”Go into the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation”…then we are fulfilling our purpose, and living accordingly to His will.
The next time you are faced with depression, despair, and despondency; pray for God to show you what He wants for you. Being obedient requires great sacrifice by placing yourself in sync with God’s purpose for your life. Your praise will reach the throne of God, and the joy of Christ will overshadow all negative feelings that Satan has thrown your way. Thou art worthy, O Lord to receive glory and honor and power: for thou has created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. Isaiah 55:8 NLT
Every day we are faced with dilemmas that leave us wondering if this is the problem that will finally break us. Our tests and trials in life can strike quickly, and leave us feeling desperate. Even those of us who possess the strongest faith may begin to falter if our prayers remain unanswered. However, our trials did not come as a surprise to God. He who is Omniscient; knows all things past, present, and future. We must continue to exercise our faith by believing in God at all times. Prayer, faithfulness, and studying His Word enables us to possess complete confidence that God is resolving all vicissitudes of life.
Pray without ceasing-prayer is the key to God’s heart. He loves us unconditionally, and is waiting to bring us through.
This morning, as I dusted my furniture, I picked up the United States flag that I was given in memory of my father. Although, it has been 13 years since he passed away, I realized how much I missed our father and daughter conversations. My father was a natural comedian with stories that made me wonder if all of the details were factual. As the tears flowed, I was reminded of the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
For those of us who remain we have the responsibility of serving God by aligning our thoughts, our actions, and our lives with the Word of God. I long to see my father again; however, I must prepare myself spiritually if that is to occur. I must become desperate for a deeper and closer relationship with Jesus Christ. There is nothing in this present life that I am willing to hold on to, that would cause me to miss my opportunity for eternal life, and to be reunited with my father.
Dear God, please give me the desire to study your Word. Thank you for comforting me today, by bringing to my remembrance your precious promise of the family reunion when you come again.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. EPHESIANS 3:20
Many years following the collapse of my first marriage, I can recall asking God for another chance to experience love before I left this earth. It was many years later that my prayer was answered by receiving the gift of a dedicated husband. This year when I was diagnosed with end stage osteoarthritis in both knees, my devoted husband has lovingly taken on an additional role as my caregiver. Although, I am fully functional with my personal activites of daily living; there are times when my ambulation is limited due to stiffness and severe pain. I now utilize an assistive device for additional support when walking.
Throughout my gradual decline, my husband provides for my every need. God was fully aware of the future decline in my physical condition when I prayed for love. He answered my prayer by giving me a husband that would love and care for me unconditionally. I can truly say that God has shown His love exceedingly and abundantly above all that I could ever imagine. He planned for my future when I was in excellent health. My simple desire led to a heartfelt prayer that resulted in my gift of a wonderful husband.
I pray that I will always submit my desires, my plans, and my life to God. He is the authority on guiding and resolving every obstacle or situation that I face. Thank you God for loving me unconditionally. Thank you for protecting me from all hurt, harm, and danger from birth through the present; and thank you for giving me the love of my life.
Dedicated to my husband-Angel-te quiero mucho.
