The Year of New Beginnings: Ask God For Wisdom and Discernment

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.” (Psalm 34:14, 17).

Faith in God is always rewarded. Not only do we receive the blessings of God’s guidance and protection, if we ask, the Holy Spirit will also give us the gifts of spiritual wisdom and discernment.

“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” (James 3:17, ESV).

Spiritual wisdom differs greatly from human thoughts because it is given by God, Who is Omniscient, All-Knowing.

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding…” (Proverbs 2:6).

Yes, we can enjoy the blessings of peace and happiness that comes from trusting and relying on God’s Higher Thoughts.

It is a wonderful experience to pray in faith knowing that God’s answers never include the need to re-evaluate because the resolution failed. Yes and Amen!

“Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding…” (Proverbs 3:13).

Divine Wisdom gives us the spiritual insight to understand the deeper meaning of the Holy Scriptures, and to see life through spiritual eyes.

Divine wisdom changes the way that we think and live. Perceiving life through spiritual eyes results in us letting go of the people, places, and habits that we used to enjoy.

The Benefits of Faith-building Prayers: From including God in every decision, we learn to rely totally on Jesus Christ. There is no guesswork or mistakes! We know that God’s Solutions always produce perfect endings.

Still, there are other benefits from placing our faith and trust in God; we develop the spirit of humility necessary for the Holy Spirit to guide us daily on the Narrow Path of Righteousness.

And from our dependency on God, while others live with fear, we live courageously, knowing that the Holy Spirit will empower us with Jesus’ Divine Strength to keep moving forward in our earthly journey.

Our 2026 Declaration: I will trust in God, not in my limited thoughts and understanding!

Through the surrender of daily personal worship, the Holy Spirit transforms our minds by giving us the spiritual wisdom and discernment to recognize Satan’s covert temptations.

We pray throughout our day for Jesus’ Strength because we know that we need His Power to overcome external temptations and our internal desires.

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” (Ephesians 5:15-17, NIV).

Our spiritual battles also include fighting against the character trait of self-reliance. Praying continuously, keeps us dependent on God, aligning us with His Divine Will and Plans.

Every day, it is our responsibility to bring our minds into harmony with God through Prayer and Bible Study. Surrendering ourselves to God is a daily act of faith.

“Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you.” (Isaiah 55:3).

When we pray for the Holy Spirit to enlighten us to think as God thinks; not only are we protected from suffering consequences, but our obedience is rewarded with stronger faith, wisdom, courage, and victorious outcomes. Yes and Amen!

Lord God, we thank You for Your Amazing Love and the many benefits that You give to us. We consecrate ourselves to follow Christ through surrender and faithful obedience. Lord, we ask for our hearts to be changed. You have blessed us to enter a New Year that requires spiritual wisdom and understanding to be aligned with Your perfect Will and Plans for our lives. In faith, we ask this prayer in the Righteous Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Spiritual Red Flag: Do Not Trust Human Wisdom

“If you seek her [wisdom] as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:4-6).

Because we were created with limited understanding, 99.9% of the time, we usually perceive a situation incorrectly, which always leads to undesired chaos and consequences.

God Commands Us Not Replace Spiritual Wisdom and Discernment With Human Thoughts

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Often a situation involving family or friends, directly impacts us. Do not presume that you know what is going on.

Whisper a prayer, asking God for spiritual discernment, and in a gentle tone lovingly ask, “Can you help me to understand what is happening?”

“Do not be wise in your own eyes…” (Proverbs 3:7).

When facing conflict, always pray for God’s guidance. An Emotional Response always escalates the situation because emotional responses trigger emotional words of retaliation, and sometimes, acts of violence.

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:11-12, NIV).

Everyday, every believer is facing unseen spiritual warfare on a personal level, in our homes, on our jobs, and in our neighborhoods.

One of Satan’s most effective strategies is to entice believers to participate in various discussions that always end in arguments.

Last week, I can recall sitting in the waiting area of the optician’s office, and the woman sitting next to me casually started a general conversation about hobbies, and we laughed at being yarn artists because we knit and crochet.

But then the conversation took a left turn, she said, “I love discussing politics, and usually can provoke others to get upset while I remain calm.” I never responded, and that was the end of our chat.

“But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife.” (2 Timothy 2:23).

There are topics that we must avoid because they always produce conflict: Religion, Politics, Economic Disparity, and Social Injustice.

Even among believers, God can never receive the glory and honor when we give into temptation, and discuss topics that are guaranteed to produce controversy.

“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.” (James 1:14).

Many Believers watch debates and programs that include controversy, immorality, profanity, and violence. Whatever we listen to is eventually reflected in our character, attitude, spoken words, and lifestyles.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2, NIV).

If we are not witnessing then we must reflect on why we are involving ourselves in lengthy discussions with unbelievers. Our gift of time can be spent studying the Bible, praying, helping those in need, witnessing, and giving Bible studies.

Even when giving a Bible Study, if the individual is asking for clarification of a Scripture, our first response is to offer a spoken prayer asking for God’s guidance before we answer.

“Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.” (James 1:26, NIV).

Only God has the ability to always give perfect knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Pray for spiritual wisdom and discernment in every aspect of life.

Lord God, we pray for the spiritual strength to overcome our desires to listen to and speak words designed to provoke controversy. We ask you to forgive us for the times that we have used our thoughts to discern a situation incorrectly, and initiated conflict with our words. Lord, bless us with the wisdom to know when to remain silent. We ask this prayer in faith and in the Righteous Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Trust God With Your Life

Redirecting our faith and focus from our challenges to God’s Sovereign and Unlimited Power proves that we believe God is who He says He is, “I Am that I Am!”

Elisha Prays, “Lord, Open His Eyes”

“Now the king of Aram was at war with Israel. After conferring with his officers, he said, ‘I will set up my camp in such and such a place.'”

9 “The man of God sent word to the king of Israel: ‘Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.’ 10 So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places.”

11 “This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, ‘Tell me! Which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?'”

12 “‘None of us, my lord the king,’ said one of his officers, ‘but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.'”

13 “Go, find out where he is,’ the king ordered, ‘so I can send men and capture him.’ The report came back: ‘He is in Dothan.’ 14 Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city.”

15 “When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. ‘Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?’ the servant asked.”

16 “‘Don’t be afraid,’ the prophet answered. ‘Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.'”

17 “And Elisha prayed, ‘Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

18 “As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, ‘Strike this army with blindness.’ So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked.” (2 Kings 6:8-18, NIV).

This morning at 3 am, God awakened me to speak to my heart, and reminded me, that He is the God of all flesh, and nothing is too hard for Him.

God’s primary method of speaking to us is through the Holy Scriptures. Sadly, we have become too comfortable with only attending church once a week, and hearing second hand knowledge of who God is from others who dedicate their time and effort to studying God’s Holy Word.

Elisha was a great prophet, and in Biblical times, servants lived with their masters. Servitude was not like the atrocious enslavement that the Israelites suffered in Egypt.

Although Elisha’s servant had witnessed God perform countless miracles through His faithful and dedicated prophet, Elisha’s servant remained faithless.

How is it possible for someone to witness the power of God and still not believe?

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6, NIV).

To believe in God requires that our hearts are converted and we place 100% of our faith in God.

When challenges arise, instead of us thinking, What am I going to do? We immediately fall to our knees and pray for Divine Help, and in the same prayer, thank God for giving us the victory.

Why? Because we believe that God loves us, and we have a Heavenly Father Who is Sovereign and Omnipotent.

To have the faith and courage that God requires us to completely trust Him with our life. We relinquish self-reliance through daily surrender.

Whether we are facing dilemmas, or the routine duties of life, when we include God, we reveal that our love, loyalty, and trust is completely in Him.

“The joy of the Lord is my strength.” (Nehemiah 6:8).

It is wonderful to awaken with a mind filled with peace, joy, and happiness. Involving God in every aspect of our lives is a faith-building activity that removes all doubts, fears, anxieties, and worries.

From our willingness to trust and obey God, Christ promises to shower us with His greatest spiritual blessings of steadfast faith, courage, wisdom, discernment, endurance, and perseverance, which is required to run the Christian race and win.

Steadfast faith in God redirects our focus to God’s power instead of the circumstances. We can only live as Victorious Overcomers, if we stop trusting in our limited abilities.

How important is faith in God? Faith in God is the foundation of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Faith, or the lack of faith also determines our destiny.

Reflection: If we did not honor and revere God with steadfast faith in our earthly lives, can we expect to spend eternity with God?

If we did not trust God on Earth, it would also be impossible to trust Him in Heaven.

The character that we develop on Earth must reveal steadfast Faith and the attributes of the Character of Christ, written in Galatians 5:22-23 to receive Eternal Life.

Yes, we were given a mustard seed size faith, but God expects our faith to strengthen and experience growth based on our belief in His Sovereign Power, which requires knowledge of His Divine Character.

Our daily personal worship should consist of prayer and studying the Bible. The Scriptures feed our faith. The same God who parted the Red Sea and the Jordan River says, “I do not change! Trust Me.”

Those who trust in God are empowered with the Divine Strength of Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit.

Trusting God with your life produces spiritual growth and development. Not only will you begin to perceive life through spiritual eyes, but your character will also change to reflect the Righteousness of Christ.

David’s prayer reveals that humility, surrender, and obedience is worship: “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.” (Psalm 34:4, 6).

Preparing for Eternal Life One Day At a Time

Lord God, we come to You on bended knees, seeking Your forgiveness for redirecting our faith and trust from You to ourselves, and for not studying your Holy Scriptures. Lord, we confess that our faith is weak because we have failed to worship you in Spirit and Truth. We ask you for strength, wisdom, and discernment. And we thank You for hearing and answering our prayer that we ask in the Righteous Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

“Am I Growing Spiritually?” Signs of Spiritual Growth

God tells us to, “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10).

Growing closer to God is not an emotional experience of highs and lows, it is a day by day spiritual transformation of our mind, character, and personality that allows us to receive Jesus’ gift of peace.

Sanctification Prepares Us for Eternal Life

Sanctification is the gradual and daily spiritual process of growth and transformation performed by the Holy Spirit, which requires the human effort of surrender, faithful obedience, and renouncing our desires, and sinful practices and pleasures.

Sanctification requires the human effort of full cooperation with the Holy Spirit. Instead of following our thoughts, we pray for God’s guidance, and obey His answers. Yes, this is a struggle!

We do not use our emotions to react to conflict, or stressful situations, instead, we strive to possess the Spirit of Christ, and immediately pray for Divine Help.

Christ’s Character: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,  peace, long suffering [patience], gentleness, goodness faith, meekness [humility], temperance [self-control], against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23).

Through our daily personal worship of Prayer and Study of the Scriptures, we receive spiritual wisdom. It is in the times of separation from others, the Holy Spirit quietly teaches us the deepest meaning of God’s Righteous Precepts.

As we begin to perceive life through the Spiritual Eyes of Christ, we begin to recognize that we are growing spiritually. Not only do our desires and goals change, but we also approach the Throne of Grace before making decisions, and rely on God to fight our battles.

Loyalty to God is manifested by righteous thoughts. Instead of pursuing earthly success and material possessions, we seek to fulfill our God-given purpose of using our talents and spiritual gifts to honor God, and witness to others.

“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.” (John 16:33, CSB).

Remaining loyal to our Shepherd does not exclude us from enduring suffering, trials, and hardships. The apostle Peter tells us that we will experience fiery trials.

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.” (1 Peter 4:12, NLT).

“These ‘fiery trials’ are seen not as surprising misfortunes, but as opportunities to test faith, purify character, and deepen one’s connection with God, ultimately preparing us for future glory.”

Spiritual Fact: When facing challenges, our first response reveals the status of our faith and trust in God.

Although, we can resolve our obstacles, spiritual growth is evidenced by our desire to depend on God. Instead of developing strategies, our first response to adversity is a prayer asking for God’s Divine Intervention.

“Even before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear.” (Isaiah 65:24, CSB).

Developing a life of prayer builds steadfast faith and trust in God, and demonstrates confidence in Jesus’ promise, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”

In Philippians chapter 4, the Apostle Paul gives us Jesus’ instructions on maintaining our faith and gift of peace despite our circumstances.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7).

Prayer connects us to Jesus, our Intercessor who receives every prayer, silent and spoken. From exercising our faith to believe in the Power of God, the Holy Spirit blesses us with Christ’s spiritual peace [an abiding inner calmness] that words cannot describe.

“You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3).

God loves and honors His faithful believers. From surrendering ourselves to follow Christ, we receive the daily blessings of spiritual peace, a quiet spirit, provisions, the fruition of His perfect plans, and the ability to sleep like newborn babies.

“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8).

Like David, even when facing adversity, we can have the confidence that Jesus Christ, Heaven’s Mightiest Warrior will fight every battle we face!

If you are living a life of faithful obedience then you are right where God needs you to be. Yes and Amen! Peace and Blessings.

Bible Study: Psalm 46

Lord God, we thank you for the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth who speaks to our hearts, giving us spiritual wisdom and discernment when we dedicate ourselves to follow Christ. Jesus, we thank You for Your amazing gift of peace, and protection from spiritual warfare. We give you the honor, glory, and praise, and ask this prayer in Your Holy Name, Amen.

Seek God, Not Gifts

“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?” -Luke 9:25

“Worldly people bless themselves in the
abundance of this world’s goods; but
God’s servants bless themselves in Him.”
In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus promised to
provide all of our necessities of life.

We use our faith to believe and to be content
with what we have. We must learn to practice “Need over Greed.” Preparing for eternal life does not include success, prosperity, or pursuing the acquisition of material things.

Our Character Matters to God: Romans 12; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 4:32; and, 1 Peter 1:16. To be sons and daughters of God, we seek His will, obey, and fulfill our Heavenly Father’s desires and plans.

Put God first! Spiritual growth and
transformation is accomplished by the Holy
Spirit. The human effort of daily consecration
through prayer invites Christ to bless us with
wisdom, discernment, and His strength to live as Victorious Overcomers!

Lord, God, thank you for giving us our daily
provisions.In Jesus’ Righteous Name, we
pray, Amen

Obedience Is the Sacrificial Life

” ‘And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.’ As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.” -John 8:29

Jesus Prays for Himself: “I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do” (John 17:4).

We have Jesus’ Righteous example of the humility and faithful obedience required to honor and revere God, the Father. Our love and loyalty to Christ must supersede loving ourselves, and the world’s prosperity and pleasures.

Daily consecration through prayer, fasting, and diligent study of the Bible keeps us close to God, inviting the Holy Spirit to perform the daily transforming work of Sanctification.

Lord God, we thank You for living a life of faithful obedience that we could be redeemed from the consequences of sin. We ask for the anointing, power, presence, and spiritual wisdom from the Holy Spirit to live a sacrificial life of surrender and faithful obedience. Thank You, Jesus for leading, protecting, and correcting us in our daily walk with You. In Jesus’ Holy Name, we pray, Amen.

We Are Known by Our Fruits

Our Heavenly Father Cares Devotional – April 6, 2025

“But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering [patience], gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness [humility], temperance [self-control] against such there is no law.” -Galatians 5:22-23

In performing a spiritual self-evaluation, one must ask, Am I in right standing with God? Are there any secret sins, habits, or behaviors that are separating me from Christ?

“I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” -Jeremiah 17:10

Our thoughts, spoken words, and lifestyles reveal whether or not we are devout followers of Jesus Christ. True believers consecrate and surrender themselves daily by abiding in Christ through the personal worship of prayer and Bible study.

“Many believers who have no real faith in God or in His Holy word, [the Scriptures] often agree with some principles of Truth and often pass as Christians, yet they do not obey and practice Scriptural doctrines.”

“The Bible was designed to be a Guide to all who wish to become acquainted with the will of their Maker.”

Jesus invites us to come boldly before the Throne of Grace to receive help in our time of need. We are always in need of Divine help.

To pray without ceasing means to have a continuous mindset of honoring God’s Sovereignty through silent or audible prayers. Seeking God’s guidance in every aspect of our lives demonstrates our willingness to be led by the Holy Spirit.

The human effort of exercising our faith, and obeying and trusting in God, praying for guidance, searching the Scriptures, and renouncing sin invites the Holy Spirit to give us strength, wisdom, and the spiritual discernment to fully understand the Scriptures, and to recognize, and overcome temptation.

Sanctification is the lifelong spiritual process of growth and the transformation of our minds, characters, and personalities into the likeness of Christ demonstrated by our efforts of striving to live holy.

Living holy is a tough battle! Our part is to cooperate with the Holy Spirit by letting go of all sinful habits, and seeking God everyday. From our perseverance, the Holy Spirit gradually changes us and we begin to reflect the Fruit of the Spirit.

Stay connected to Christ, our Savior and Triumphant King who forgives our sins and covers us with His Righteousness.

We are living in perilous times, 2 Timothy 3. With humility, we invite the Holy Spirit to guide us on the Path of Righteousness as we prepare one day at a time for Jesus’ Second Coming.

[Psalm 139:23-24] Prayer: “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen.

Love for the World or Love for Christ?

Our Daily Walk with Christ Devotional – September 10, 2024

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” —1 John 2:15

The greatest challenge for today’s Christian believers is to remain loyal to Christ. People and distractions are the two avenues of detour [spiritual warfare] implemented by Satan to lead us away from the Path of Righteousness. How much time do we spend worshiping God outside our working hours?

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.” —Proverbs 3:7-8

Although God tells us not to follow our thoughts, our daily routines and habits are etched into our brain’s neural pathways. We do not even think about our daily routines, it is so easy to automatically perform duties on our mental to-do list. Because of life’s busyness and rapid progression, we no longer reflect deeply on our behaviors and schedules.

Recently, I watched an animal documentary that revealed a slow but steady process of a beaver felling a tree. “Technique: Beavers start by whittling a tree’s trunk to a point. They often start on the side of the tree closest to water…They then make a second cut on the opposite side of the tree, higher than the first cut, so that the tree falls toward the water. Time: It can take a beaver family up to three weeks to fell a large tree.” Mass Audubon

The beaver’s instinct is to perform the technique that guarantees success and safety. As the documentary revealed, the beavers also stop frequently to perform visual checks, which alerts them to move in the opposite direction of the falling tree. How are we living our lives? Have we succumbed to practicing the world’s rapid rhythm and pace resulting in a counterproductive lifestyle that includes taking chances because we have excluded God from directing our steps?

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” —Isaiah 55:8-9

Loving Christ is to follow in His footsteps. Living by faith includes daily surrender and faithful obedience through worship—personal prayer and Bible study. Allowing God to reveal His thoughts, ways, and plans increases our faith and trust in Him. From our willingness to obey, the Holy Spirit directs our steps empowering us to live as victorious overcomers, and our characters are daily transformed for our future lives in the New Heaven and New Earth.

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” —Hebrews 13:5

Taking the time to reflect on our priorities and lifestyles reveals whether we love God or we love the world. Money is not evil, the love of money is evil! The rich young ruler walked away sorrowfully because he loved his wealth more than Christ [Matthew 19:16-22, NKJV]. Any person, thoughts, habits, or pleasures that consume our time redirect us from loving God with all our hearts, souls, and minds to the pleasures of this temporary world.

“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.’ ” —Matthew 22:37-38

Jesus tells us our love and loyalty can’t be divided between God and the world. When we love God, He is first and foremost! Each new morning is a precious gift of life from God, our Father. It is His breath that fills our lungs. It is His Agape [unconditional] love that sustains our lives. Every day, God reveals His loving kindness by opening the windows of heaven allowing us to receive His provisions.
