Agree with God and Live in Peace

Our Daily Walk with Christ Devotional – October 17, 2024

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” —John 14:27

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” —1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NIV

The Holy Spirit imparts the righteous attributes of Christ in us when we surrender our will to God. “Being a believer in Jesus is something that we do, and this is expressed in how we live and not just in a set of beliefs.” Our thoughts, spoken words, decisions, and actions reflect that we are children of God.

“And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.” —John 8:29, NIV

Through continuous prayer in Jesus’ earthly life, He surrendered himself daily to God, the Father. Jesus always possessed overwhelming love for God and His love was reflected through surrender and faithful obedience. Christ is our perfect example of how we must live every day by communing with God through prayer.

Daily surrender has its benefits. Prayer is the gateway to receive God’s guidance and protection from spiritual warfare and physical harm. The surrendered believer who faithfully seeks God’s guidance is blessed with joy, peace, and a life without suffering consequences. Through the Holy Spirit, we receive spiritual wisdom, Jesus’ Divine strength to live holy, and the power to overcome sin.

“In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” —Genesis 1:1-2

“The Holy Spirit is the Breath of Life in the Soul.” Although manifested on the day of Pentecost, the Scriptures clarify that God, the Holy Spirit was present with God, the Father, and God, Jesus the Son before this earth was created. Although this is a mystery to our human minds, we use our faith to believe in the sovereignty and omnipotence of the Holy Scriptures which are the Voice of God.

Surrender and faithful obedience invite the presence of God into our lives and indicate that we agree with His purpose and plans for our lives. Never forget that God’s ultimate goal is to save our souls, give us eternal life, and possess a spirit of peace even though we face temptations and severe trials. God’s love prompted Him to give His only Son so we can be redeemed and not suffer the final death which is the penalty for sin. And for this, we owe God our love and loyalty expressed through our sacrificial gift of ourselves to His Will and Way.

Prayer: Lord God today we come into agreement with You by surrendering ourselves to Your will, purpose, and plans for our lives. We ask for the forgiveness of our sins and to strengthen us in our weaknesses. As we seek You through prayer and study of the Scriptures, Lord, we ask You for the anointing, presence, and power of the Holy Spirit to guide us through life’s tumultuous journey. Thank you for hearing and answering our prayer that we ask in Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen.

“But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you [setting you on a firm foundation] and will protect and guard you from the evil one.” —2 Thessalonians 3:3, Amplified Bible

The Call to Live Holy

Our Daily Walk with Christ Devotional – October 16, 2024

The era of compromise and middle-ground Christianity has escalated to an all-time high in the Christian community. Although the lines between God’s Truth and false doctrines appear to be blurred, God says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20).

From studying the Scriptures, we learn the attributes of God’s Righteous Character and His expectations of all believers. Although I could write words of wisdom explaining the daily surrender and faithful obedience required to serve God, God speaks for Himself in the Scriptures.

“Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. 17 Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. 18 ‘Come now, let us settle the matter,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. 19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land; 20 but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.’ For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” —Isaiah 1:16-18, NIV

The Freewill Choice is Ours to Make: “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” —Joshua 24:15

The Nation of Israel worshiped pagan idols and made sacrificial offerings to God as commanded, but God exposed them by instructing Joshua to openly present their unfaithfulness to God. You and I must also make a choice, either we will strive for holiness with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, or live according to our desires and inclinations.

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” —James 1:12

Lord God, we choose You and ask You to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, empower us with strength from the Holy Spirit, and teach us how to live holy. In Jesus’ Righteous Name, we pray, Amen.

Are You Making Good and Godly Decisions?

Our Daily Walk with Christ Devotional – October 14, 2024

“LORD, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps.” —Jeremiah 10:23

In this world, “The Game of Chance” has many players who take risks daily by making choices that reap negative consequences. Because the unrighteous rely on their educational achievements, strategic thinking, and prior experience, we expect them to make mistakes. “But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble” (Proverbs 4:19).

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.” —Proverbs 3:5-8

The Scriptures provide direction and protection for Christian believers. Yes, anyone can gain intellectual knowledge by studying the Bible, but true heart conversion and Sanctification are revealed by humility, daily surrender, and faithful obedience to God. Jesus forewarns us that our plans are built on a foundation of sand when we exclude Him.

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” —John 15:4

To abide in Christ is to pray continuously for His Divine guidance. We pray and Jesus answers our prayers through the Holy Spirit who speaks to us through our thoughts and the Scriptures. Seeking God through prayer, receiving an answer [and yes, sometimes the answer is to “Be Still”] invites God to guide us and intervene with His Sovereign power. Every godly decision results in victory because God always wins!

The Destruction of Jericho
“Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. 2 And the Lord said to Joshua: ‘See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. 3 You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days. 4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.’ ” —Joshua 6:1-5

Joshua received God’s instructions to march around the city of Jericho. Imagine the unbelief of Jericho’s inhabitants who thought the walls were impenetrable. In Isaiah 55, verses 8-9, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.”

God’s ultimate desire when He gifted the life of His Son, Jesus was to save our souls. Our plans should extend well beyond our earthly lives. We plan for the future not as unbelievers chasing fame and fortune, we walk in Jesus’ footsteps by committing ourselves daily to God, “Not my will, but Your will be done.”

“Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness…” —Hebrews 3:8

In this life, we choose to accept God’s Plan of Redemption through prayerful surrender and faithful obedience. We deny ourselves by not participating in the sinner’s rebellious Game of Chance. Either we will live for ourselves or live for God. If we choose God then our reward of mansions and living in a perfect and sinless New Heaven and New Earth for eternity is promised to us by Jesus who will return to this Earth as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Where do you stand? A Player who bows to no one by following their thoughts and inclinations or a Servant of the Most High God who reverently bows to His Divine Sovereignty by seeking His will and ways?

Prayer: Lord God, in humility, we bow to Your Sovereign Kingship asking for Your Divine Guidance and blessings on our lives. We pray for Your direction and protection from the enemy who seeks to kill and destroy our lives. Teach us to hear Your Voice. We thank You and ask this prayer in Jesus’ Righteous Name, Amen.

Three Principles for Standing Firm in These Last Days

Our Daily Walk with Christ Devotional – October 13, 2024

“… For I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep what I have committed to him until that day.” —Timothy 1:12.

Know Christ – Reflect on your life and compare it to five years ago, has your relationship with Christ grown closer or become more distant? How did Christ live when He was on this earth? Although he had 12 disciples who witnessed His Godly power, Christ had to rely on God, the Father for strength. His disciples remained unchanged for most of their journey with Jesus. They lacked faith and spiritual growth because they desired earthly prestige and power.

At some point in every believer’s life “… every earthly support will be cut off…” We will experience a crisis that only God can intervene and resolve. We must know who Christ is and have a faith-based intimate relationship with Him. When facing satanic attacks, Christ alone will keep us safe. Jesus is leading us to fully depend only on Him. Each new morning, surrender to God and pray for Divine wisdom, strength, power, and solutions to your problems. In the peaceful times, develop a life of prayer and Bible Study.

“Sanctify them by Your truth, your word is truth.” —John 17:17

Know His Word! – Although it is not popular in the Christian community to study the Scriptures, we will not stand against false teachings and temptations without studying the Bible nor can we serve God with love and loyalty when He is a stranger. Most importantly, our hearts cannot be converted and our characters transformed without Scriptural knowledge. Those who lack the knowledge of God’s Word will easily be persuaded by the enemy to sin against God. “We must have a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ to be able to stand.”

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” —Ephesians 1:18-19

Know His Power! – The Triune God is Sovereign: God, the Father, Jesus, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit have always existed [Refer to Genesis 1]. In John chapter 1, the apostle confirms that Jesus known as “the Word” created all things. “Jesus spoke and the Earth was created…think about the power of Christ delivering Israel from Egyptian bondage, Christ used the wind to part the mighty Red Sea and the Israelites walked through the Red Sea on dry land. Joshua and the Israelites shouted, but it was the Power of Christ who knocked down the walls of Jericho.”

Signs of the Last Days: “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” —2 Timothy 3:1-5

Do we really know what time it is? We were created with free will to choose who we would serve. Either we will prepare now to stand as courageous soldiers who are loyal to God or not. God gave Jesus, His only Son to redeem us from the wages of sin which is the final death. “Christ has the power to deliver us from our past and empower us for the future. Christ has the power to deliver us from the guilt of sin and the grip of sin.” As we draw closer to the end of time, commit to stand with Christ.

Quotations: Pastor Mark Finley

A Personal Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want nothing between my soul and my Savior. I confess and ask for the forgiveness of my sins. I desire a personal relationship with You. Jesus, I want to saturate my mind with Your Word and to know Your Mighty Power working within Me. In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen.

God Cares For You

Sabbath Peace and Blessings

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior…” —Isaiah 43:1-3

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living” (Psalm 27:1, 13).

Pray and Wait: “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14).

We Need God

Our Daily Walk with Christ Devotional- October 4, 2024

Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be my disciples.—John 15:5, 7-8

How do we abide in Christ? How is God glorified? Much prayer and studying of the Scriptures gives us knowledge of God’s righteous character and His plans for every believing Christian. The Plan of Redemption was in place before the world was created. God’s goal has always been to save our souls, therefore Jesus died for us, was victorious over death’s dark grip, and is in heaven serving as our Intercessor.

We pray and the Holy Spirit takes our prayers to Christ who covers us with His righteousness and presents us to God, the Father as the redeemed. We abide in Christ by seeking His will every day. There are 66 books in the Bible that guide and teach us God’s expectations of Jesus’ followers. God, the Father is glorified when we align ourselves to His will through faithful obedience.

Reflection: Do my life choices reveal that I am a dedicated follower of God? Every thought, spoken word, and action should reflect that we are on the Path of Righteousness. Every day, we encounter challenges, the testing of our faith, love, and loyalty to God through temptations, but prayer keeps us connected to God, the Source of All Power! With God, we live as overcomers! To “Pray without ceasing” means to talk to God throughout our waking hours.

“…and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” —Matthew 28:20

We need God! Yes, our earthly journey is tough, but God never meant for us to navigate alone. Even if you can resolve the issue, Pray for God’s help. With God involved, we never have to suffer consequences for misjudging our circumstances. God always wins! Dependency on God always ends in victory!

In John 14, verses 1-3, Jesus promises to return as the Triumphant King one day to gather the righteous and take us to heaven. Amen. Until then, be faithful and courageous, and continue to pray, pray, pray!

Lord God, we desperately need Your help. And we thank You in advance for Your Divine Intervention in our lives. In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen.

He Gives Power to the Weak!

Our Daily Walk with Christ Devotional – October 2, 2024

Today, I had an appointment with my Pulmonologist Nurse Practitioner who was delighted that I no longer have to use a maintenance inhaler. After listening to my lungs, she said, ” Your lungs are clear with strong breaths.” My response was, Yes after three years of steroid inhalers, I am very excited to no longer require them. But then she attempted to throw a curve ball, “Your next visit you will need to complete tests A, B, and C” to which I responded, “I am declining tests B and C because test A, a Chest CAT Scan will reveal any abnormalities. Respectfully, I indicated I was a Registered Nurse [retired]….” We reached a modified and satisfactory treatment plan because I knew that I was healed by God and excessive diagnostic tests were unnecessary.

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” —Hebrews 11:6

For three years, I prayed for healing and in April of this year, God granted me healing. When God blesses us with miracles, we have an archenemy who uses countless ways [including people] to weaken our faith and make us doubt God’s love, His promises, and His Sovereign power. Pray daily for God’s Divine strength! Although God does not promise everyone physical healing, He does promise us the strength to travel the arduous journey through our trials and hardships of life.

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.'” —2 Corinthians 12:9

Adversity produces steadfast faith in God. Whatever you are facing, never forget God’s promise in Isaiah 40, verse 29: “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak” (NIV). Our responsibility is to pray and faithfully believe that we will receive God’s Power—Jesus’ Strength.

Never stop praying! God hears and answers every prayer. The prayer of despair and desperation is responded to immediately. Jesus, the Commander of Angel Armies sends peace and comfort through the Holy Spirit and His heavenly angelic messengers.

Lord God, we face many challenges in life that either build our faith or make us doubt Your love and Sovereign power. We pray for an outpouring of Your Divine strength and the courage to witness to others that You not only give power to the weak but also heal us of brokenness and mental, emotional, and physical sicknesses according to Your will. We believe in Your Divine Power and pray for peace and comfort. In Jesus’ Righteous Name, Amen.

You Are Chosen and Called By Christ

Our Daily Walk with Christ Devotional – September 30, 2024

“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” —Luke 12:48

To be Chosen and Called is a privilege and responsibility that requires a close walk with Christ. Because Christ died for all, we are commanded to love as He loves, and we must also strive to “Be holy, for I am Holy” (1 Peter 1:16). We need Divine Help and Power to love and forgive others [no exceptions] and to live righteously.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” —Philippians 4:13

To be a dedicated follower of Jesus requires living a life of sacrifice for which we will receive Jesus’ strength through empowerment from the Holy Spirit. Through prayer and Bible study, we stay close to Jesus, He gives us the Divine strength to live as overcomers. In humility, the chosen surrender every day by seeking the will of God and faithfully obeying His plans for their lives.

For our life of obedience, God honors us by giving the righteous spiritual blessings of His Divine Guidance and Protection. We also receive daily provisions for our spiritual and physical needs. If our desires align with His goal to save our souls, God rains down His abundant blessings (Malachi 3). With heartfelt gratitude, we  whisper prayers worshiping our Heavenly Father for His never-ending abundant love, grace, mercies, and provisions.

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” —John 15:4

To understand the life of Christ and His obedience to God, the Father, one must diligently study the Holy Scriptures under the guidance of the Teacher, God, the Holy Spirit, also known as the Spirit of Truth. To enjoy a thriving relationship with Christ, our Heavenly intercessor, we must love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds. Our journey with Jesus is one of joy, ” I will never leave you or forsake you.”

“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you” (Matthew 6:6). We must also have an abundant prayer life to stay connected to Christ. Prayer, the Scriptures, and our thoughts are the spiritual gateways the Holy Spirit uses to communicate with us.

To be chosen and called will require us to step away from mainstream society. Although it’s a tough decision, we allow God to choose our inner circle of friends because we are influenced by the close company we keep. God knows the heart and will give us friends who demonstrate love and loyalty to Him and will support us spiritually through the good and adverse times. Yes, friends of God communicate with God through prayer, but we also pray for each other.

Our desire to live eternally is demonstrated in our lifestyle, thoughts, habits, spoken words, and how we love and treat others. The Holy Spirit reveals various ways of using our spiritual gifts to glorify God and witness to others. Acts of kindness, a smile, and saying “Jesus loves you,” can alter the course of someone’s life. Love is powerful always giving hope and peace where despair reigns.

“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” —John 15:16

Yes, Christ has chosen and called us to shine brightly in a world filled with darkness. Every day, reflect His Light and Love to everyone.

Lord God, thank You for choosing us to be your messengers of love and peace. We pray for the love, faith, and courage to represent Your unconditional love to others. In Jesus’ Holy and Loving Name, Amen.

Do You Have the Right Friends?

Our Daily Walk with Christ Devotional – September 27, 2024

“Do not be deceived: ‘Bad Company corrupts good character.’ ” —1 Corinthians 15:33

Scenario: You strive to have a strong relationship with Christ by studying the Bible and praying daily. Although life is not perfect, you are still joyful and Christ empowers you with his Living Water as you strive for the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). You love God and love others as Jesus commands. Now, imagine this water pitcher filled with beautiful fruits representing yourself.

Godly Character Traits

“Blessed are those whose lives have integrity, those who follow the teachings of the LORD.” —Psalm 119:1

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” —1 Corinthians 13:4-7

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.” —Proverbs 19:17

Not one of us is perfect. Every Christian with a converted heart strives to faithfully obey God and travel the Journey of Sanctification, becoming more like Christ. Reflect on your circle of friends—their demeanor and character should also reveal that they are Christian Believers striving to live righteously filled with love, integrity, and unselfishness,

“Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” —Ephesians 4:32

Exactly what does this mean? Every Christian endures a daily struggle. God expects believers to be a Family of God. We should have Christian friends who can encourage us with Bible Scriptures (God’s promises) and also pray with us when life is overwhelming. We cry and laugh together.

“The Bible commands us to pray for one another, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16, ESV). God manifests Himself in many ways when praying together and for each other.” Thursday Theology

There are warning signs that God did not send certain people into your life. Beware of friends who never speak of God’s goodness, rarely have time to talk, are always too busy, or only text, “Praying for you” when you are discouraged. Texting is not as effective as hearing kind and compassionate spoken words and a heartfelt prayer. When we embrace individuals as friends who believe in God but are not practicing true Christianity, we continuously pour ourselves into them, but receive nothing in return.

One-sided relationships produce the Empty Pitcher Syndrome—we are drained spiritually, mentally, and emotionally which also affects our physical health. If we continue to pour into people who are unable to reciprocate, we lose our joy and peace. Our relationship with Christ is disrupted when He fills us only for us to end up mentally and emotionally drained.

Christ’s earthly journey was not easy. He relied on God for spiritual strength. It is important to pray, study the Bible, and learn God’s Loving Character, so we learn how to love others. “They will know we are Christians by our love.” Christ pours into us and Christian friends pour into each other. As Christ loves, we are to exemplify the same unconditional love toward each other.

“…we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God…” —Colossians 1:9-10

Lord God, we pray for You to reveal the people who we are unequally yoked with and are keeping us drained. You have commanded us to be loving and kind, always lifting each other up in prayer. We ask You to send us dedicated friends who love You. Be with us in our friendship circles. In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen.
