Mud, the combination of dirt and water, provides an excellent medium for children to express their creativity. Although playing with mud is beneficial, promoting the growth and development of a child’s imagination and motor skills, many children would cringe at the thought of playing with mud. Whether a child views mud as marvelous and loves the tactile feelings from wet dirt or walks away thinking, never will my hands touch that muddy mess; mud has been with us for a very long time, and it is here to stay.

But there went up a mist from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:6,7

Were you aware that the earth was wet before God used His hands to create humanity in His image? In times of distress, if you ever doubt that we serve a loving Creator, reflect on the biblical verses that tell us that God bent down and placed wet dirt-mud in His hands to form a man and breathed life into Adam. Yes, God was aware that humanity would disobey and fall into sin; even so, He made the decision to create us.

We were created physically in the image of God, with the ability to possess agape love and God’s character. Without studying the Bible, we are unaware of who God really is; therefore, our character traits are unholy, serving no useful purpose like muddy waters.

Godly Character traits:

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23 NLT. 

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things. Philippians 4:8 NIV

Made from mud with unconditional love!

Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for making us in your image. We ask you to forgive our sins and to help us to possess unconditional love and a character that reflects you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
