I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27 NLT
This morning I read a heartwrenching story of fear written by a grandmother. To summarize, her question was, “Why didn’t they tell us that the virus had the potential to be spread by individuals who show no symptoms?” She expressed her fears of contracting the coronavirus and exposing her grandchildren to the virus before the “Stay at Home” and “Shelter-in-place measures.
As we have seen, circumstances readily change from one day to the next. And some believe that nothing in life is guaranteed. If a situation is in our fragile hands, then the outcome is not guaranteed. Even so, we have a God who gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly sacrificed his life for the remission of our sins. Before Jesus’ birth as a human, the prophecy existed that He would come to this earth.
For unto us, a child is born, unto us, a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
Isaiah was a prophet that lived long before Jesus was born as a baby. His generation and the subsequent generations were aware that a Savior would come and have the responsibility of this world. Only their thoughts were misguided because they desired for Jesus to become King and to deliver them from their oppression. Many centuries have passed since these events were documented in the Bible. Although Jesus lived amongst individuals who witnessed his miracles and listened to his sermons, most rejected the Son of God.
Yes, it was His sacrificial offering for all humanity that led to his crucifixion and death.
Then Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands, I commit My Spirit.” And when He had said this, He breathed His last. Luke 23:46. The Bible clarifies that Jesus willingly died. Human hands did not kill the Son of God, nor did God allow his Son to experience the breaking of his bones as was the customary practice for criminals following their death by crucifixion. These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,” John 19:36
Jesus arose on the first day of the week, Sunday (not to be associated with the manmade holiday of Easter) to return to heaven. On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. Luke 24:1-3
They were looking intently into the sky as He was going when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.” Acts 1:10-11
Satan has always presented God as unfair and unloving. During his life, Jesus experienced the hardships of humanity. But Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.” Luke 9:58 NLT
Now that our world is in chaos, and people are confused about conflicting information. What is the role of the Believer?
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
Have you told someone about God who gave His Son Jesus, and that same God will give us Eternal life if we believe, confess, and repent of our sins? The emotions of fear and anger are dominating our communities. Individuals are overwhelmed and readily expressing discontent and blame. Sharing a bible verse of God’s promises that He will protect us, on your social media page is a way to witness to others. Post a simple prayer.
Share the message of eating healthy, buying, and cooking fresh fruits and vegetables to boost the Immune system. Fast food still dominates the majority of our society’s dietary intake. God has given us the responsibility of taking care of our bodies, Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 1 Corinthians 6:19.
We have the responsibility of knowing the truth and telling it to others. Fulfill your commission by witnessing about Christ, and His sacrifice on the cross. The Holy Spirit will take over to reveal further truths to the individual who possesses a willing heart. Many households do not have a Bible, with our financial overabundance we can purchase Bibles and leave them hanging on our doorknobs for pick up.
God has blessed us with the opportunity to witness and to provide encouragement to those who are despondent. We can share that establishing a relationship with God alleviates the burden of carrying our cares and worries. We are our brother’s and sister’s keeper.
Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
The question remains, “Why haven’t you told them?”
