A Child-like Faith

When children are raised in a healthy environment, they develop positive and noticeable character traits and behaviors. It is the love and nurturing from the parents or caregivers who provide the foundation for healthy growth and development. When these conditions exist, the child expresses inner joy by giving hugs and kisses, and saying, “I love you.” They only anticipate goodness because they trust in their parents to provide for their needs. In fact, children who are in the earlier stages do not anticipate disappointment. It is not even part of their thought processes. They have 100% faith–total belief that Mommy and Daddy will do exactly as they say they will do.

The pre-school ages of 4-5 reflect an inner joy expressed by smiling, laughter, and excessive bursts of energy. They become very friendly and have the desire to please and help others. Yes, there are many remarkable developmental milestones in this stage, but we will focus on the social and emotional traits and healthy movement of the body:

Social and emotional milestones that indicate healthy development

  • Wants to please friends
  • Wants to be like her friends
  • More likely to agree to rules
  • Likes to sing, dance, and act
  • Shows more independence and may even visit a next-door neighbor alone
  • Able to distinguish fantasy from reality
  • Sometimes demanding, sometimes eagerly cooperative

Movement milestones

  • Stands on one foot for ten seconds or longer
  • Hops, somersaults
  • Swings, climbs
  • May be able to skip

God, we thank you for another day of life in which we have received a large portion of your love, grace, and mercies. We ask forgiveness of our sins, and we ask you to open our minds and give us understanding and wisdom that we may receive and believe in your promises. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10

Our spiritual journey begins with total faith and the acceptance of Jesus Christ. We openly agree that Jesus is the Son of God and that His death provided the necessary sacrifice for the redemption of our sins. We also affirm that Jesus was resurrected and is in heaven and that He will come again to receive and reward the faithful. Jesus said to him, “You have said so. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Matthew 26:64 ESV

As Believers in the Most-High God, we must have spiritual growth and development based on unwavering faith, trust, and obedience to God. Complete and total faith is 100% belief in God. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6. When we accepted Salvation, it was through our faith–we believed, as children do, what we heard or read about Jesus was the absolute truth.

I cannot imagine my life without God. My journey has included some painful events that would have left me permanently scarred, broken-hearted, and emotionally unstable. But I decided to accept and believe in God’s promise that He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. I recognized that I had to exercise Human Effort to grow my Seed of Faith. By learning who God is through the diligent study of the Bible and fervent prayer, my faith started to flourish. And the determination to believe in God, His promises, and His power became stronger as I became wholly dependent on Him.

King David shares the traits of God’s unconditional love:

Sing to the LORD, O you His saints, and praise His holy name. For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5 BSB

We are approaching the end of earth’s history as we know. Even so, we are not to be fearful or distressed. Jesus has promised, “Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Revelation 22:12-13

Through faith, strive to reach your spiritual milestones. Jesus is coming for us. If we faithfully believe and think deeply about His promise, we will possess overflowing joy. And as pre-school children, we will spiritually jump, hop, skip and turn somersaults because we serve a loving and compassionate Heavenly Father. He is patiently waiting for us to become child-like and faithfully depend on Him.

He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people. Revelation 22:20-21
