The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. Psalm 34:19
Yesterday, I listened to the testimonies of individuals who admitted that 2021 was their most challenging year. Although filled with many difficulties, they made it through. Many of us can relate to a year filled with economic hardships, health issues, losing loved ones, and devastation from natural disasters. My testimony includes facing homelessness after receiving notice of intent to sell the house I had leased for six years. Even with faith more diminutive than a mustard seed, God lovingly extended His grace and mercies by relocating me to the beautiful Florida Coast.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers them out of them all. Psalm 34:19
God’s promises are always “Yes” and “Amen.” Yet, we worry and fret during our seasons of trials and sorrows. What is lacking in our lives? We are discouraged because our mind is focused on our limited abilities. We cannot recognize the Omnipotence of our Heavenly Father because our knowledge of God is too little. But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken since you do not understand the Scriptures nor the power of God.” Matthew 22:29.
Prayer is the secret of spiritual strength and connects us to Divine Power!
When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. Psalm 91:15
Recently, I read an article on prayer. The author stated, “Prayer changes us by nourishing our faith in God.” Immediately, I thought of the conditions of the desert, lacking water most of the year, yet there are plants and trees, which exist. Yes, my soul was dehydrated. As a result, my faith cannot grow and I lack spiritual insight. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19
God desires that we receive His abundant rain that quenches our thirsty souls. Prayer communicates to God that we desperately need Him. Who does not require daily spiritual nourishment? Doing our part allows us to receive unlimited blessings of strength that enable us to persevere and endure our hardships. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5. What a powerful promise! To receive the spiritual insight of wisdom and discernment from prayer. Much prayer gives us much power!
Prayer is a direct connection to our Spiritual Team:
- And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Romans 8:26.
- For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus…1 Timothy 2:5
- “It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24
Prayer is the channel of communication between our souls and God. God speaks to us through His word; we respond to Him through our prayers, and He always listens to us. Prayer, EGW
Many are spiritually dehydrated because they do not know the Scriptures. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Knowledge of God’s promises allows us to think and live differently. It is with an assurance that we receive peace, joy, confidence, and contentment from ongoing prayer and study of the Word of God.
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
A known fact is that yo-yo dieting leads to discouragement and often a state of malnutrition. The body is weakened, eventually causing the individual to give up. Overwhelmed by the busyness in our lives, we forget to put God first. To receive spiritual resilience, we must seek God daily, which takes commitment and a review of how we spend our time. Our praise and worship of God require consistency. We should not factor God into our schedules. Avoid spiritual malnutrition by praying and diligent study of the Bible. Remember, our Team is available 24/7. Call on the Lord! And be persistent in your prayers!
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:17-18
Prayer: God, we are thankful for a new year. And we desire to have a closer relationship with you. We ask forgiveness for excluding you from our lives and pray for wisdom as we seek knowledge through the Scriptures. Thank you for hearing and answering our prayer that we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen. © 2021 Sonya Johnson, Faithful Fishers, and Woman, You Are Loved by God Ministries
