“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
If you had a need for twenty $1 bills and gave the bank teller a $20 bill, you would expect an even exchange.
Surrendering our life to God requires 100% commitment. Although by faith we give ourselves to Christ, it would never be an even exchange. If we seriously contemplate on the sacrifice that only Christ was worthy enough to make, then our level of commitment and surrender would total 100% without question.
King Solomon concluded in the Book of Ecclesiastes (7:29), “…God created people to be virtuous, but they have each turned to follow their own downward path.” So, now we have a clearer understanding of what we need to do: Renounce what we think is right in our own eyes and take on the righteousness of Christ.
How do we take on the righteousness of Christ? Repenting of our sins, acknowledging that God is Omnipotent, and making a daily and lifelong commitment to total obedience through faith. When we repent, we are surrendering all of the wayward behaviors that prevent us from obeying God. Our faith and desire to serve God with all of our heart, mind, and soul places us in a position where God can direct our decisions and every aspect of our lives.
Memorize this beautiful and encouraging verse: “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.” John 16:33 CSB
Strive for Peace by Surrendering Self to Christ!
Prayer for today: Dear God, Today you have blessed me with another day of life. I am surrendering myself to you. I need your love and your guidance. I need peace instead of chaos. Please help me and free me from the desire to follow my own inclinations. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!
